About the Author

I can write pages about imaginary people, but when it comes to writing something about myself? Ah…

I was born in Southampton, Hampshire, and grew up in a quirky Victorian house just outside a village called Titchfield. I am sure this fuelled my obsession with quirky houses! I can confidently blame my parents because they also had an obsession with all things quirky and would visit reclamation and salvage yards to collect things for the house – such as 300-year-old ship’s timbers, which they put in the ceiling (even though the house was Victorian and didn’t need it) and a stone Tudor fireplace. The house did come with a well, which my father was very proud of. I remember visiting Plas Mawr in Conwy and him telling the guide that his well was deeper…

One of my first jobs was for the Hampshire Constabulary, where I started off as a typist and ended up as an Admin Officer at one of the police stations. This is probably why many of my books feature police officers as characters – and not only the crime books!

The first thing I had published was a short story in a magazine called Take a Break. My first novel was published after I entered a Write a Bestseller competition run by Poolbeg Press. To date, my books have sold over 170,000 copies and have spent over 7 months in the Amazon Top 100 (UK).

I live with my family in a little village on the Welsh/English border and I spend any free time reading (obviously!), researching my family tree (I have some very odd ancestors, which explains a lot, actually), gardening (trying to keep my plants from being eaten by the squirrels), but not baking, which is strange because I really like eating cake…

I hope you enjoy reading my books!
